How will I be spending my time?
Students will be engaged in research full-time. As graduate students, they will be expected to be active in their research for 35 plus hours weekly.
Students will complete their research and course work according to the following schedule.
Will I be paid?
Students will receive a stipend of $12,000 for the 25-26 academic year. Mentors, however, have the option to provide additional funding.
How much is tuition for the program?
Tuition will be waved for the 25-26 academic year.
What are the benefits of the program?
The MS in Physiology Expedited track for MD Students, provides an option for a formative experience to launch a medical career that fosters research. A stand-alone MS involving an immersive research experience will open new opportunities to leverage a medical degree. This experience may also increase the competitiveness of the student in their search for a desired residency placement.
Do I step out of my medical studies to participate?
Yes. Before beginning clerkships and following the STEP 1 Exam, students will being their year-long MS in Physiology studies. Students will continue with their medical studies the following year with the next class.
How can I keep in touch with my medical studies?
There are a number of ways to remain active as a Medical Student while involved in the program. Students may take part in Grand Rounds with other Medical Students. Shadowing is another excellent way to maintain a clinical connection while a part of the program.
I’m interested. When do I apply to take part in the program?
The online application is scheduled to open on October 16, 2024, for those interested in taking part in the program during the 25-26 academic year. Applications must be complete on December 18, 2024.
